Start your career journey in supporting teaching and learning with this introductory course

Learning Programme – Introduction to Childcare

The Entry Level Learning Programme for Teaching Assistants is designed for individuals who are considering a role in education and want to explore what it’s really like to support learning in a school environment.

This programme provides a gentle, supportive introduction to the teaching assistant role, helping learners build confidence, develop essential skills, and understand how classrooms work. It is ideal for those with little or no previous experience, or for anyone who wants to gain a better understanding of education before progressing to a formal qualification.

Throughout the programme, learners will develop key skills such as communication, teamwork, classroom awareness, and supporting children’s learning and behaviour, giving learners the confidence to take their next steps into education, volunteering, or further study.

This course is particularly suited to:

  • Aspiring teaching assistants
  • Parents or carers interested in working in schools
  • Individuals returning to work or education
  • Learners exploring progression into Level 2 or Level 3 education qualifications

By the end of the programme, learners will have a clearer understanding of the teaching assistant role and feel more prepared to progress into employment, volunteering, or further training within education.
