We’ll help you master the everyday digital skills that make modern life easier, from managing your emails and staying safe online to accessing essential services digitally.

You’ll learn practical skills that you can use immediately in your daily life – whether that’s video calling family, shopping online safely, or accessing healthcare and government services from your own home. Our friendly, supportive approach means you’ll build confidence at your own pace, with plenty of hands-on practice in a relaxed environment.

By the end of this course, you’ll feel empowered to navigate the digital world with confidence, opening up new opportunities for staying connected, learning, and managing your everyday tasks more efficiently. No matter your starting point, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

This qualification gives you a recognised credential that proves your digital competency to employers and demonstrates your commitment to developing essential modern skills.

Qualification Overview

The qualification has 5 themes. Learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all
learning outcomes within each theme as detailed in the qualification specification.

Funding criteria

This is a Community Learning Programme delivered in partnership with Slough Borough Council.
This course is free to all learners who meet the funding eligibility criteria below:

– Resident within the borough of Slough
– Resident in the UK continuously for 3 years or more (exceptions apply for refugees)
– Aged 19 years+

Aged 19+
Access to a laptop and a word processor app (e.g. Microsoft Word)

Assessment

This qualification is externally assessed and externally marked.
External assessments are designed by NCFE and scheduled by the centre. Upon completion, the
assessment is marked by NCFE. Results are subsequently released within 6 working days of the
assessment being uploaded.
The assessment consists of one component:
• an externally set and assessed assessment which consists of:
– section 1 (knowledge): externally set, externally marked multiple-choice question (MCQ)/short answer question (SAQ) paper, completed under controlled assessment conditions
– section 2 (skills): externally set, externally assessed task-based assessment, completed under
controlled assessment conditions

The teaching was very good and informative whilst also being entertaining at getting the class involved and working as a team to learn the modules. The presentation slides were very good and easy to read and learn from. Rusidha taught us very well, as well as including some real life experiences to help better explain some of the modules. The classroom was air conditioned at a comfortable temperature for learning. Overall, the learning sessions were informative and made interesting for all of us and her teaching style and methods made the modules easy to learn and to pass the quizzes at the end. I very much recommend her as a tutor for future courses.
