Basic Digital Skills

This course is designed to introduce the basic concepts of the computer by learning to use a range of digital devices, how to use a mouse and keyboard, understanding the functions of different applications, and creating an email account.

Learners will develop skills necessary to be safe and responsible online. Learners will learn how to use word processor to create simple documents and file management, use the internet to look up information and search for jobs, and use email to communicate with colleagues, businesses, family and friends.

Qualification Overview

This course is for learners with little or no digital skills who need to join a short course to improve their knowledge for using digital devices in everyday life and employment.

Funding criteria

This is a Tailored Learning Programme delivered in partnership with the Slough Job Centre.
This course is available only for learners who meet the funding eligibility criteria below:

  • Resident within the boroughs of Slough or RBWM
  • Resident in the UK continuously for 3 years or more (exceptions apply for refugees)
  • Have Right to Work in the UK
  • Aged 19 years+

Progression opportunities

Learners can progress on a Level 1 Digital Functional Skills qualification or directly into employment.
