Qualification Overview

Anaphylactic shock, or anaphylaxis, is a severe and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction to allergens such as certain foods or insect stings. Without prompt and appropriate treatment, anaphylaxis can be fatal. This training is designed for First Aiders and Emergency First Aiders, equipping them to recognise and treat anaphylaxis safely and effectively.

Participants will learn to:
– Identify and distinguish between allergic reactions and the more severe anaphylactic reactions.
– Understand the urgency of immediate recognition and response to anaphylaxis.
– Assess if the individual has previously experienced allergic or anaphylactic reactions to medications before administering any treatment.

This course is ideal for:
– All First Aiders and healthcare professionals.
– Individuals working in high-risk environments where medications are available and anaphylaxis may occur.

This qualification lasts for 3 years. To renew the qualification, learners will need to retake the full course. However, it is recommended that during the 3-year period, the learners attend annual refresher courses.
