Level 1 Essential Digital Skills

The purpose of this qualification is to allow learners to learn and demonstrate breath and depth of competency in the essential digital skills they need for life and work.

Learning Programme – Introduction to Business Administration
It will enable learners to engage with digital services and products in everyday life and work, and work towards a qualification.

Outcomes – by the end of the course the learners will be able to:

  • Install and use applications on desktop computers and/or laptops
  • Confidently use navigation tools such as hyperlinks, menus etc. to perform tasks more efficiently
  • Understand and use online communication such as emails, messaging, social media etc.
  • Complete online forms and make payments online
  • Search for products and services online and use advanced searching options
  • Edit and format information in Word and Excel – text alignment, bullet points etc. and be able to format e.g. adapt layout, sizing etc.
  • Use Excel documents to complete calculations which could help with planning household budgets, prepare costing for a job etc.
  • Use Word to create and format charts and graphs
  • Be aware of potential threats to security, use privacy settings, private browsing, privacy tools etc.
  • Understand the physical and psychological threats of online activity e.g. physical stresses to the body, over-use of devices, cyber-bullying etc.
