The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for Working in the Early Years Sector (Early Years Educator) programme is designed to prepare individuals to work with children from birth to 7 years old. By completing this qualification, learners will be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators.

The course has been developed in accordance with the Department for Education and National College for Teaching and Leadership Policy, focusing on improving the quality and range of education and childcare for young children. This qualification exceeds the minimum requirements set out in the Full and Relevant Criteria, ensuring that learners are well-prepared to meet the needs of young children and are in alignment with the priorities of practitioners and employers in the field.

Qualification Overview

This qualification is designed to prepare learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding to enter work in an early years setting and be included in staff:child ratios.
This qualification includes both knowledge and skills that meet the Department for Education Early Years Educator (DfE EYE) criteria in full and map to the knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) within the Early Years Educator occupational standard ST0135 in England.

Funding criteria

This is course is delivered in partnership with the East Berkshire Community Learning and Skills Service, Slough Borough Council and the RBWM.
Free funding is available to learners who meet the eligibility criteria below:

– Resident within the boroughs of Slough or RBWM
– Unemployed or in receipt of low income (less than £22,308 per year)
– Resident in the UK continuously for 3 years or more (exceptions apply for refugees)
– In receipt of state benefits (Universal Credit, JSA, etc.)
– Have Right to Work in the UK
– Aged 19 years+
– Not being on an apprenticeship

Entry requirements:

- Learners must be aged 16 or above.
- GCSE English and Maths A*-C

Mandatory Units

To be awarded this qualification, learners are required to successfully achieve 10 mandatory units/95 credits.

Assessment

All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. This could include direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task set by the Awarding Body.
Some learning outcomes within this qualification will require assessment in a Real Work Environment.

Real Work Environment (RWE)

This qualification requires learners to complete a mandatory work/industry placement experience throughout the duration of the qualification, before certification. The skills-based learning outcomes associated with work placement experience have been included as part of guided learning (GL) hours within each unit (where relevant). The GL has been allocated as knowledge and work placement experience to support with delivery. The total number of mandatory work placement hours is a minimum of 300 hours, however it is recommended that learners undertake 350 hours where possible.

The teaching was very good and informative whilst also being entertaining at getting the class involved and working as a team to learn the modules. The presentation slides were very good and easy to read and learn from. Rusidha taught us very well, as well as including some real life experiences to help better explain some of the modules. The classroom was air conditioned at a comfortable temperature for learning. Overall, the learning sessions were informative and made interesting for all of us and her teaching style and methods made the modules easy to learn and to pass the quizzes at the end. I very much recommend her as a tutor for future courses.

I found the training very useful and learnt some new skills in Business accounting and refreshed my knowledge in other subjects. Rusidha was very engaging and delivered the training in a professional manner. She was very approachable and included the whole class in any discussions. She was able to answer any questions anyone had and if she was not sure she was able to signpost. I have no suggestions for the way she can improve as I was very happy with her style of teaching.
